Sharing is caring!

These past two days have taken a massive amount of practicing what I preach, especially when it comes my ability to work through attachment.

Breathe. Center. Breathe. Pause before responding so I do not react. Breathe some more. Stay open. Just like I teach my clients and followers, we must always come back to the breath.

Attachment is real and so is fear. They will take over if we allow them to and that’s exactly why we must practice if we want to free ourselves from being a prisoner of the monkey mind. It’s simple but not easy. The key is to be gentle with ourself too. I stumbled this weekend as you will hear in the video and I started to shut down a bit. Because Chris and I serve as mirrors for one another I was able to rebound in about 24 hours, which isn’t my ideal but it’s not horrible either.

Be gentle! We all need to work through attachment on our own way. We’re all on the journey together and no one is better than, worse than, smarter than, stronger than. We are just where we are at any given moment. This is so crucial to remember because it allows us to drop our expectations at the same time we tap into compassion.

“Practice giving things away, not just things you don’t care about, but things you do like. Remember, it is not the size of a gift, it is its quality and the amount of mental attachment you overcome that count. So don’t bankrupt yourself on a momentary positive impulse, only to regret it later. Give thought to giving. Give small things, carefully, and observe the mental processes going along with the act of releasing the little thing you liked.” ~Tibetan Book of the Dead

Where do you struggle with attachment? I’d love to hear in the comments below after you watch the video. And remember, go gently you’re exactly where you need to be.
